SURVIVOR QUÉBEC | Best French-language show according to Playback

SURVIVOR QUÉBEC named “Francophone Program of the Year” by Playback magazine.

Noovo’s reality show is the only French-language production from Quebec to receive an award in 2024. The third season of SURVIVOR QUÉBEC, hosted by Patrice Bélanger, is scheduled for next spring.

Montreal, December 11, 2024. – Every year, Playback magazine awards honourable mentions to series and artisans who, over the course of the year, have entertained and inspired thanks to their contribution to the Canadian screen industry.SURVIVOR QUÉBEC, the Quebec adaptation of the show that propelled reality TV around the world, is honored this year in the “Francophone Program of the Year” category. SURVIVOR QUÉBEC is the only Quebec and French-language production to receive an award.

With this nomination, Playback recognizes that Noovo – thanks to the experienced teams at Productions J and Bell Media – has succeeded in adapting a global TV phenomenon like Survivor to its own market, making it a critical and popular success, while retaining the characteristics of the original format, but in a version all its own. From its very first season in spring 2023, SURVIVOR QUÉBEC has carved out a place for itself on the TV landscape, becoming the #1 show in Quebec in its A25-54 time slot, across all channels. In its second season, it became the most popular show in Noovo’s history. Since then, SURVIVOR QUÉBEC has also spread to other Bell Media platforms. Both seasons of the franchise are among the most-watched content on noovo.ca, with over 6 million views. On Crave in French, SURVIVOR QUÉBEC was the most viewed show during the Spring 2024 season.

“It’s thanks to the expertise and creativity of our Quebec teams that we’ve been able to adapt a world-renowned format into a version that’s uniquely our own, and in which our audience recognizes itself, with our values, our characteristics and our language. It’s a privilege to be able to count on such talented people whose know-how is now recognized everywhere, so much so that other countries are hiring our craftsmen and women to collaborate with them on their adaptation of Survivor ,” says Suzane Landry, Vice-President, Content Development, Programming and Information at Bell Media.

In 2023, Quebec officially becomes the 50th territory to produce the show. At that time, for the first time, the Banijay format was introduced to French-speaking audiences in Canada. A third season of SURVIVOR QUÉBEC is currently in preparation and is due to air on Noovo next spring.
