Madeleine Cantin appointed Director of Documentaries at Productions J

Productions J is pleased to announce the appointment of Madeleine Cantin as Director of Documentary Development.

Since 2013, Madeleine has distinguished herself at Productions J through her creativity and expertise in magazines, variety shows, dramas and documentaries. A researcher on Accès Illimité, a Productions J format, she then managed research and topos for L’Été Indien, earning her the affectionate nickname “Mado Magnéto” from none other than Michel Drucker, co-host of this program broadcast on France 2 and TV5 Monde.

From 2014 to 2016, she was content producer on TVA’s Le Banquier.

In 2017, it was Madeleine who had the flair to believe in Complètement Lycée, now broadcast on Noovo. Madeleine then worked as content producer for La semaine des 4 Julie for 4 seasons.

Madeleine makes quality programs and is keen to produce documentaries. Two of Madeleine’s series have been brought to the screen: the Escouade Poilueseries andthe Porteuses de vie series , about surrogate mothers.

Porteuses de vie was born of the suffering of Amélie Lemieux, whose daughters Norah and Romy were murdered by their father in 2020. It’s the quest of a mother looking for a woman to lend her womb to bring her child to fruition.

Porteuses de Vie is not a show, it’s a mission. For the first time, Madeleine is directing and producing a series that also gives a voice to women carriers.

Porteuses de Vie is all about parenthood, with different stories, but all with one common denominator: the love of children.

This pertinent series highlights the flaws in the system at a time when the Family Law Reform Act is finally trying to modernize.

At present, Madeleine is content producer of the highly successful Télé-Québec programAu-delà du Sexe.

As Director of Documentary Development, Madeleine is responsible for developing new documentary projects, receiving projects both internally and externally, and overseeing the creation of key partnerships with broadcasters. She will surround herself with producers and directors to further develop the documentary side of Productions J.
