Productions J is pleased to announce the production of the webseries SYNCHRO, a light comedy that presents the budding friendship between Oli, an aspiring neurotypical DJ, and Thomas, who has Down’s Syndrome.
The series was made possible thanks to the support of the Créateurs en série program, an initiative of TV5 and Unis TV, and the Bell Fund.
Written by Maxime Lamontagne, it’s based on his own friendship with Arnaud, who lives with an intellectual disability.
Director Edith Jorisch will bring this touching story of friendship to the screen.
Oli, aka Olympe, a young aspiring DJ, is completely paralyzed by performance anxiety. As his doubts and insecurities loop back and forth in his head, a new melody emerges in his life: Thomas, a hyper-curious young man with Down’s syndrome, who recently started working at Oli’s favorite café. At first unsettled by this new friend who is suddenly deeply involved in his life and stagnant career, Oli begins to realize how much good this relationship is doing him. Thomas, slightly lacking in inhibition, gradually helps Oli to trust himself, to let go and, above all, to free himself from the gaze of others. With their shared passion for electro music, they develop an atypical but genuine friendship.
“For the past 15 years, the Créateurs en série program, an initiative of TV5 and Unis TV, has supported up-and-coming artists in the realization of their projects. For 2023, six winners have been selected from the 70 proposals received. The projects of Maxime Lamontagne, Anthony Coveney, Vincent Bilodeau and Julien Robichaud stood out for their originality, boldness and very high quality. Their short series will go online on the TV5Unis platform in 2024 and will then be broadcast on Unis TV.” – TV5
Shooting is scheduled for May 2024.
