Episode 8 – Jay Du Temple: be yourself

After six years at the helm of Occupation double, Jay Du Temple has become an icon and a symbol of difference. As he prepares to take on new challenges, we talk to him about the importance of family, both the one we’re born into and the one we choose. We also talk about his fondest memories of Christmas with his family, and the need for him to hear his mother’s voice in difficult times.

Episode 9 – Marina Orsini: tightly woven

Marina Orsini has left her mark on Quebec with her major television roles. But the public’s love for her is also due to her immense kindness and great generosity, two qualities she says she inherited from her mother. With Christmas just around the corner, we delve with her into the holiday traditions of her close-knit family. We talk about the pleasure of getting together, and the kitchen as a place for sharing. Marina also confides in us about the biggest role in her life, that of being a mother.

Episode 10 – Bruno Blanchet: a free spirit

Ever since his first appearance on the cult TV show Le Studio, Bruno Blanchet has been bringing audiences along on his wild adventures. Whether on TV or in print, traveling or racing, he’s inspired people to get off the beaten track by practicing what he considers to be the most beautiful profession in the world. Today, he talks to us about tolerance and openness to the world, two great lessons that travel has taught him. He also tells us how the worst thing he feared about living abroad turned into a great achievement.

Episode 11 – Mado Lamotte: Queen Mother

The fairy godmother of drag in Quebec, Mado Lamotte is a true inspiration to all the drag queens who tread the boards of her cabaret. Her extravagance and humor have opened minds and made her an icon of the LGBTQ+ community. She talks about the importance of Michel Tremblay’s books in the creation of her stage persona, and confides in us about her new favorite pastime: painting.

Episode 12 – Kim Thùy: giving to the next one

Since the release of her novel Ru, the Quebec public has fallen in love with Kim Thúy. But some people had the chance to get to know her long before, when she owned a cozy Vietnamese restaurant where customers felt right at home. Today, she makes a point of sharing her experience as an immigrant to inspire others.

Produced by Productions J in collaboration with Mitsou Gélinas and Radio-Canada OHdio, SUR MA BOÎTE VOCALE is THE Quebec podcast to devour this winter for all those who love direct access to the memories, vulnerability and heart of our homegrown artists!
