Founded in 1997 and headed by Julie Snyder, one of Quebec’s most renowned television hosts and producers, Productions J stands out in the television industry for its high-quality productions.

Since the start of her career, Julie has been shaking up Quebec TV with her audacity, energy and innovative ideas. Behind some of our biggest TV successes, she and her team have developed an expertise in producing large-scale programs, taping shows and filming abroad.

In 1999, Julie travels to Europe and the United States for the documentary Un an avec Céline. Thanks to their legendary complicity, and René Angélil’s remarkable confidence, Julie Snyder was entrusted with the production of several specials and live performances of the world’s greatest star. In 2000, Julie Snyder became the first host and producer to pilot a weekly, then daily show on a public channel in France. Vendredi c’est Julie and Du lundi au vendredi c’est Julie are presented on France 2, with impressive ratings. The adventure opened many doors for the company. It was in France that Julie discovered Star Academy, a reality show that trains future music stars. She had only one goal: to convince TVA to broadcast the show. Julie Snyder’s flair is unrivalled, and she knows that this show will be a phenomenon!

Star Académie was launched in Quebec in 2003, smashing all the ratings. The show became a must-see. Productions J quickly had to diversify its operations to enable Star Académie’s up-and-coming artists to pursue their careers, opening a management department, a show department and a record label. For 5 seasons, Star Académie becomes an incredible springboard for both young artists who want to make a name for themselves, and established artists who want to promote their music.

With the adaptation of Star Academy, Productions J confirmed its know-how in format production, and over the years has produced adaptations of The Voice, America’s Best Dance Crew and I Can See Your Voice. The production company is also renowned for creating original programs where the limits are always exceeded: Dans ma caméra, Demandes spéciales, Accès illimité, Vol 920, La série Montréal-Québec and Occupation Double.

The company also stands out for its documentary productions, dealing with eclectic, polarizing and topical subjects. Highlighting social causes such as in vitro fertilization, the status of women in Quebec and vegetarianism, as well as many of Quebec’s biggest names, Productions J stands out for its commitment. These values shine through on screen, notably in La face cachée de la viande, Ça pourrait nous arriver, 75e: Elles se souviennent, Le monde est Plamondon, Lise Payette: Un peu plus haut un peu plus loin, Jean-Pierre Ferland: Le petit roi, Parole et Liberté, Nathalie Simard, il y avait un jardin, Seul avec Garou and most recently T’as juste à porter plainte.

In 2014, Julie Snyder and Productions J achieved the impossible: to unite the French-speaking world in over 200 countries with the show L’été indien, hosted by Julie Snyder and Michel Druker and broadcast on TV5, France 2 and TVA. With Céline Dion as godmother, the talk-show brings together Mika, Francis Cabrel, Marie-Mai, Xavier Dolan, Ginette Reno and Stromae, to name but a few.

Alongside its television productions, Productions J has also enjoyed success in the music world. Top of the radio charts and with 16 albums certified at least platinum, the record company is one of the best in the country! The company also produces numerous shows in Quebec’s biggest venues, including 35 at the Bell Centre, and collaborates with a number of major French-speaking artists, including Johnny Hallyday, Patrick Bruel, Michel Sardou, Véronique Sanson, Zaz, Marie-Mai, Maxime Landry and Ludovick Bourgeois.

After 10 successful seasons on TVA, Occupation Double made a comeback on V and then Noovo. Reality TV becomes a true social phenomenon, making it #1 among 18-34 year-olds! Hosted by Jay Du Temple, the show reaches 5.4 million Quebecers with a weekly reach of around 2.7 million viewers.The new iteration of the show marks the return of television activities at Productions J, on hiatus since 2015. At the same time, the company is undergoing a major restructuring, abandoning its music and entertainment departments. Productions J’s little sister, Productions ToRoS, is born and will produce several shows for Noovo: Danser pour Gagner, L’Open Mic de…, Phil s’invite, Qui sait chanter? and the talk show La semaine des 4 Julie marking Julie Snyder’s return to hosting a daily show. The watchword: anything is possible!

With the aim of creating entertaining programs that meet the challenges posed by the new generation, Productions ToRoS breaks away from the conventional and produces original, modern content. As a result, the company now develops variety shows as well as reality shows, magazines, documentaries and quality web projects. For noovo.ca, Complètement Lycée, Après OD, Colocs, OD BBQ, Kekou la mode and Sur la route avec Cath Peach entertain and inform Internet users. In fall 2021, the company sets up shop for the first time on Canal Vie with Le Jour J, a show that follows Julie Snyder through the 1001 adventures surrounding her move, and the brand-new show Escouade Poilue.

For over 30 years, Julie Snyder has revolutionized Quebec TV with her tone, sense of humor, energy and innovative ideas. Her madness, verve, culture and rigor are recognized by all. For example, the Quebec version of Star Académie, which she hosted and produced for 5 seasons, was the biggest hit of the decade, setting audience and record sales records, and the adaptation of La Voix, which shattered records with an exemplary 63% market share!

She also hosts and produces the variety show L’été indien with Michel Drucker, which has been broadcast on TV5 Monde, France 2 and the TVA network. Foundation of Productions J

While the idea of having her own production company had been part of Julie Snyder's plans for some time, it was on the good advice of René Angélil that she created Productions J in 1997 and produced her first show, Céline Let's Talk About Love.

Le Poing J

Julie Snyder's talk show on TVA is a huge success. A year after its creation, Julie Snyder took over production of Poing J, presented live 4 nights a week, becoming one of the few hosts to produce her own show at the time.

Maman Dion becomes an animator

Maman Dion, hosted by the one and only Thérèse Dion, mother of Céline Dion, is the cooking magazine that probably pioneered the many cooking shows. She also hosted Maman Dion's Brunch.

Céline's last at the Molson Centre

To celebrate the new millennium, Céline Dion presented one last show before taking a 2-year break. Productions J presented a TV special following the famous singer just before this historic moment.

Julie moves to Paris

Following a famous kiss on French television with Michel Drucker, Julie Snyder charmed France and moved there to host Vendredi c'est Julie and Du lundi au vendredi c'est Julie, becoming the first Quebec woman to host a show in France on a major network.

The Star Académie phenomenon

Julie Snyder discovered the hit TV show Star Academy in France. She fell in love with the concept and decided to bring it back to Quebec. In February 2003, Star Académie took Quebec television by storm. Audiences flocked to the show, beating all ratings. Star Académie became the phenomenon of the decade with its 5 seasons: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2012.

Your eyes met mine

Occupation Double, a reality show with an original concept in which the aim is to create couples, has established itself as the most popular reality show in Quebec.

Artists under management at J

In order to accompany Star Académie graduates in their careers, Productions J created the management division. Over the years, the company has managed the careers of Marie-Mai, Wilfred Le Bouthillier, Annie Villeneuve, Marie-Élaine Thibert, Maxime Landry, Ludovick Bourgeois and many others.

A chart-topping tour

The tour following the first edition of Star Académie was a huge success, topping the Pollstar list of the biggest North American tours and reaching number one on the American Billboard charts. It was the first of many successes for the Productions J show department.

A record-breaking Céline Dion DVD

To mark the end of Céline Dion's residency at Ceasars Palace, A New Day, Productions J produced a DVD worthy of the show that forever changed the face of Las Vegas and forever marked the history of the entertainment industry. The DVD breaks records and becomes the first DVD in Canada to be certified Triple Diamond, selling over 300,000 copies.

Céline celebrates Quebec City's 400th anniversary

To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City, Céline Dion performs a unique show with some twenty guest artists. The show, presented to a monster crowd of 200,000, is captured by the Productions J team.

A successful record company

In 2009, with Maxime Landry's album Vox Pop, Productions J launched into album production, now offering a 360-degree service for artists: music, show and management. With more than 16 albums certified at least platinum (80,000 copies), Productions J has done very well in this fast-moving industry.

Céline Dion: the tour of a lifetime

As Céline celebrates her 40th birthday, she confirms her status as the world's greatest singer with a memorable tour that takes her to Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and America. Céline Dion and René Angélil agreed to let the Productions J team follow them through 25 countries and 131 shows. The DVD, lasting 2 hours 53 minutes, is reduced to a one-hour 57-minute version for theatrical release.

Oprah Winfrey, Céline Dion and Julie Snyder reunited

Having proven the quality of her productions with Céline Dion, Julie Snyder and Productions J receive an exceptional mandate from the Oprah Winfrey Network. The production of a documentary following Céline Dion as she prepares for her new show in Las Vegas, just weeks after giving birth to her 2 twins. The documentary Three boys and a new show will air on the Oprah Winfrey Network in 2011, then on TVA in 2012.

Star Académie, the meeting place for international stars

The 2012 edition of the famous show produced by Productions J and hosted by Julie Snyder is a special one. The show, which always beats all the ratings, welcomes Mika, Lionel Richie, Véronique Sanson, Patricia Kaas, Stromae, Johnny Hallyday and Jason Marz. René Angelil has even agreed to be the Academy's director.

Who's got THE biggest voice in Quebec?

In 2013, Productions J got its hands on a format that had proved its worth in several markets, the singing competition The Voice. With an average of 2,772,300 viewers every Sunday, La Voix is the version with the highest market share in the world (around 60%), well ahead of the Belgian (38%) and Dutch (37%) versions. The Quebec version of La Voix becomes the new singing competition with the biggest audience.

A project never before seen on television

L'été Indien is the first project of its kind to see the light of day on television. A huge variety show set against the backdrop of downtown Montreal, the program is hosted by two legends of the entertainment world, Julie Snyder and Michel Drucker, and sponsored by Céline Dion. The show aims to build bridges between France and Quebec, and features a number of artists, including : Mika, Patrick Bruel, Marie-Mai, Fred Pellerin, Francis Cabrel and Stormae, to name but a few. The show is broadcast on France 2, on the TVA network and in nearly 200 countries with TV5 Monde.

Knight of the National Order of Merit

Julie Snyder's involvement in bridging the gap between Quebec and French cultures, and her efforts to promote French artists in Quebec and Canada, were recognized by the French government, which awarded her one of its most prestigious prizes, the Ordre National du Mérite. Productions J's involvement in the production of shows by Véronique Sanson, Gad Elmaleh, Patrick Bruel, Michel Sardou and ZAZ, as well as several of the company's TV shows, contributed to this nomination.

A first for Julie Snyder... radio

While television activities have been on pause since 2015 at Productions J, Julie Snyder is taking her first steps on the radio, hosting 5 à 7 aux Îles... avec Julie, a summer radio show broadcast live from the Magdalen Islands.

Occupation Double returns to V

The return of television production at Productions J comes with the long-awaited return of the reality show Occupation Double on V. This new edition, set in Bali and hosted by Jay Du Temple, immediately becomes a social phenomenon. The phenomenon was such that it took over social networks and the web, becoming one of the first shows to achieve multiplatform success. Since 2017, OD has set up shop in Greece, South Africa, Quebec and Western Canada.

The birth of Productions ToRoS

The creation of Productions J's little sister, Productions ToRoS, will make it possible to produce several successful programs for the V channel, including: the adaptation of America's Best Dance Crew, Danser pour gagner and the original programs L'Open Mic de... and Phil s'invite.

Creation of the Jinfluence agency

Establishment of Jinfluence, an influencer agency offering original and effective content creation solutions. Jinfluence supports the bachelors who participate in Occupation Double in managing their celebrity and maximizing their notoriety.

ToRoS productions on the web

Productions ToRoS is developing expertise in web productions. Since 2019, it has produced, among others, the web series Après OD, Colocs en amour!, Cath sur la route, Kekou la mode with Mathieu Dufour, OD BBQ...

The 4 Julie week

2020 marks Julie Snyder's return to hosting a daily talk show. La semaine des 4 Julie is presented on V, then Noovo, Monday to Thursday at 9pm. Julie reunites with her long-time partner Stéphane Laporte. Together, they offer a talk show where anything is possible. Contributors are added to the interviews conducted by Julie.
